Hi,

Wow!

This past week was fast-moving, challenging and enlightening!

My kids staged a successful coup. They'd had enough of the negativity at the school they were attending and created and communicated this veryyy effectively to their parents.

I won't go into the 1,2,3 of it all but I love the way my kids call me when my human side resists change and decisioning too long. Kids are so in tune. Transformation doesn't scare them because they intuitively trust that whatever comes must be better.

Thank you, kids, for calling me on this sooo effectively that I spent my birthday on Tuesday at a school filling out forms, being interviewed and evaluating uniform alterations! ;-)

Tuesday was the 13th and thirteen is the number of transformation. So Tuesday's activities put 'action' into the thought, intent and choice to change schools and moved the rest of the week's process along powerfully.

Later today I'll meet with a highly recommended homeschooling Mom where my daughter's best friend will be moving to. After that, I'll sift through the alternative school choices and feel out which one's best for us.

Do you have children? Have they staged similar coups against toxic school environments? Have you homeschooled? What's your take on education? I found myself wishing I had at least two clones this entire week so that I could let one set up and run my own holistically integrated school!

Anyway, sorry for not being around much but my hands were full! ;-)

Parenting, Motherhood, Mommying and Misogyny: Blog Conversations

Hi,

After two weeks of what seems like a LOT of repeating of requests to bathe, clear up your room, time for bed and the full gamut of 'do this, do that' parenting seems to involve, I took a breather last night to stare at the almost-full moon. I turned off the tv and the lights and just breathed in the peace, the quiet and the tranquility.

These past two weeks, the issue of misogyny has also been with me. I don't see it being talked about much in the mainstream media. The last time was during one of Paula Zahn's 'Out in the Open' series a couple weeks ago.

Then this morning, instead of jumping into my morning writing 'to do' immediately, I visited BlogHer after a long absence and found two wonderful parenting/mommy posts.

The first is Lisse's 'Because it Ain't All Sweetness and Light' and the second is by Dorothy, entitled 'Looking Out, Looking In'.

Enjoy the great read both provide.

And if you have the time, reflect a bit on whether you feel women worldwide face misogyny all the time in both subtle and openly cruel forms.
