Just found this interesting bit over at Digg and tracked it down at Yahoo! News.

I commented 'hmmm... looking to Scripture to rationalise abuse of women... misogyny alive and well... again.. and with God's 'consent'.' Forgot to add 'and legal, female judge's consent in a country run by a strong female Chancellor, my namesake, Angela Merkell'. ;-)

Meanwhile, Muslim women held a conference in November 2006:

Meeting in New York over the weekend, Muslim women from 25 countries began laying groundwork for the first international all-female council formed to issue fatwas. Their idea: to ensure that women's perspectives on Islamic law become part of religious deliberation in the Muslim world - particularly on issues such as domestic violence, divorce, and inheritance.

"There's this growing sense on the part of literate Muslim women ... that there is a vital need for women to confront the Islamic tradition and to work on a par with men in interpreting the sources," says Ann Mayer, an expert in Middle Eastern law at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. "Otherwise you end up with a very sexist bias in the readings."

I was just about to start working on my "Soul Self Help Insights" newsletter.. again... and came across another manifestation of the colliding conflict between the masculine and feminine energies seeking balance on the planet.

This will continue to be a central theme of what I'll write about both here at "Angela's Voice" where I'll just point them out, at my Angel Soul Mate Self Help Blog where I'll focus Love and Angel healing energy on the issues and via my "Soul Self Help Insights" newsletter, where I'll discuss it more fully when guided.

The collisions worldwide between the balancing energies of the masculine and feminine underscore every conflict that is spoken about and worried over anywhere on the planet now... and we will discuss this often to create an awareness of this underlying issue.

I got the quote via BoingBoing's February 9th 'Ballot initiative would require married couples to "show proof of procreation"' post.

The first would make procreation a requirement for legal marriage. The second would prohibit divorce or legal separation when there are children. The third would make the act of having a child together the legal equivalent of a marriage ceremony.

... If passed by Washington voters, the Defense of Marriage Initiative would:

add the phrase, “who are capable of having children with one another” to the legal definition of marriage;

require that couples married in Washington file proof of procreation within three years of the date of marriage or have their marriage automatically annulled;

require that couples married out of state file proof of procreation within three years of the date of marriage or have their marriage classed as "unrecognized;"

establish a process for filing proof of procreation; and

make it a criminal act for people in an unrecognized marriage to receive marriage benefits.

All I'll say is that my almost 15 year marriage that we'll celebrate on March 1st in a couple weeks' time would have been null and void years ago, since we didn't choose to have children for quite some time! ;-)

When the feminine achieves greater balance with the masculine on Earth, choice will be an accepted expression of freedom as a lived right for every human being, everywhere, in all areas of life.

This is frightening to those who now control the resources of power on Earth.
