World Affairs: United Nations' Kofi Annan Interview On Larry King Live

World Affairs: United Nations' Kofi Annan Interview On Larry King Live

Good morning,

I've been working on my sites and organising graphics since about 2:45am and took a break to check in on a girlfriend of mine who is my best spiritual buddy here in Jamaica.

After the usual chit-chat we got to talking about the mushrooming Mid-East conflict, focusing on Israel/Lebanon/Hazrallah. We spoke about the incredible media attention, the fear energy that's thickening more each day globally and the importance of zooming outwards to get the eagle perspective of both personal and global situations.

Did you listen to Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations in his exclusive-in-America interview with Larry King last night?

Three things struck me and I'll share them with you:

1. When asked via an email question why Resolution 1559 (is that the correct number?) had not been fully implemented, he responded sagely by asking viewers to remember that the United Nations isn't a glass building, operating as a satellite, separate from the countries of the world.

The United Nations reflects the collective will of all governments, peoples and countries that are members of its body. Creating a resolution in any given conflict is a big breakthrough, but it is the energy, focus and will on the part of its constituent governments that cause full implementation of a UN resolution.

2. When Larry asked if he sometimes didn't wonder what was the use and feel like just throwing up his arms and giving up, Kofi Annan gave a response that felt real, sincere. He said in approximate words 'yes, of course. Sometimes I feel that way'.

He continued by making the point that he also feels sad sometimes when he sees people making decisions to use violence rather than communication as the means to get their point across. That we still hurt each other so much, as human beings.

3. Despite the many criticisms that are levelled at Kofi Annan personally and at the United Nations, I gave thanks for the fact that his soul took on the job of heading up the United Nations at this time in the evolution of consciousness of human beings on our collective planetary home.

I'm no expert on whatever controversies have occurred and happily leave that debate to those who are but I do know that last night I connected in my heart with a human being who expresses heart-led awareness, concern and care and a persistent willingness to continue to move peaceful coexistence between differing nations forward.

Thank you, Kofi Annan, for the work you are doing on behalf of all of us here on Earth in this dynamic and volatile period in our history. And thank you, Larry King, for the work that you continue to do each night in communicating with the mind, heart and soul of your interviewees as human beings first and foremost. Your skillful, heart-felt and real questions never fail to help us perceive the similarities that bind us all together and the intriguing differences that keep us from being bored.

I agree with what Angelina Jolie said in her interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper four days after she returned from delivering her daughter Shiloh in Namibia. They were discussing her work as a United Nations Ambassador in regard to refugees all over the world living in camps and the heaped criticisms of ineffectiveness that are hurled at the UN.

Her comment was that if more people KNEW about what the United Nations does on a daily basis to help millions of persons globally, they would have more respect for the United Nations. They'd understand the importance of the work the UN does accomplish and be able to balance its shortcomings against that fact.

As I leave you now, several hours after I started writing this post, I wish you abundant, excited, passionate gratitude for all that you are blessed with today. I wish you joy, peace, clarity, wisdom, prosperity and love.

REMAIN Magnificently Blessed,

Angela.
