Post-Hurricane Sandy Assistance, Hoboken New Jersey and Prayer Request For Cosmic Spiritual Healing

1 November 2012 No Comment

Last Sunday I wrote about my experiences with Hurricane Sandy as she passed through the eastern end of Jamaica and then on to Cuba, the Bahamas and towards the US.

I first heard Mayor Dawn Zimmer of Hoboken New Jersey pleading for help for trapped residents in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, October 30, 2012, during Hurricane Sandy’s passing.

I couldn’t sleep thinking about damage from Sandy’s battering upon touching down on solid New Jersey ground.

So I sat up watching MSNBC’s Chris Jansing’s excellent coordination and hours long coverage of the devastation being rendered.

Here’s the video clip of Chris Jansing interviewing Mayor Dawn Zimmer. This was the first time I heard her chilling description of the flooded state of her district and her plea for help from the National Guard:

The second reference to Hoboken that I heard came via Dr. Rachel Maddow’s interview of Mayor Dawn Zimmer. The most chilling reveal was that there were an estimated 20,000 – 25,000 citizens stranded in their homes unable to get out because of the massive flooding of Hoboken.

She pleaded for help from the National Guard which still had not yet arrived to help rescue Hoboken’s desperate and stranded citizens:

Approximately one hour after Rachel Maddow’s interview of Mayor Dawn Simmer on her MSNBC program on Tuesday night, Mayor Zimmer tweeted that the National Guard had arrived in Hoboken. Yeahhhh!!! πŸ˜‰

Via ABC News we know that residents were ecstatic:

The National Guard arrived on Tuesday night to help with search and rescue. Army personnel used boats to help get to people trapped in their apartments.

“I’ve been waiting to leave for three days,” said a woman named Rosie as she piled into the back of an Army truck with a smile on her face.

At another apartment building on the corner of First and Harrison, a mother held her baby as they peered out of their third-flood apartment, waiting to be rescued.

Superstorm Sandy’s massive storm surge flooded the streets of Frank Sinatra’s birthplace, where the water has receded 18 inches in the last 24 hours. The usually bustling downtown Hoboken area is now dotted with debris and broken storefronts, as the sound of generators churns.

As David M. Halbfinger summed up in his New York Times report yesterday, Wednesday:

Though the storm raged up the East Coast, it has become increasingly apparent that New Jersey took the brunt of it. Officials estimated that the state suffered many billions of dollars in property damage. About a quarter of the state’s population β€” more than two million people β€” remained without power on Wednesday, and more than 6,000 were still in shelters, state emergency officials said.

This New York Times video shares some of the conditions experienced by citizens of Hoboken New Jersey flooded out in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy:

Then yesterday President Barack Obama toured Hurricane Sandy-ravaged New Jersey with Governor Christie.

Here’s a short excerpt from CNN’s Political Ticker blog about the tour:

The presidential tour began when Air Force One landed at an airstrip in the southeastern beach town around 1 p.m. ET, where Obama and Christie shook hands on the tarmac and boarded a helicopter for an aerial tour of the damage. Obama traveled to New Jersey with Craig Fugate, the administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The helicopter tour took the president and the Governor over cleanup efforts in Atlantic City and surrounding towns, including Seaside Heights, where a large pier that previously housed a roller coaster has been submerged in seawater.

Later, Obama and Christie toured a makeshift shelter in the Brigantine Beach Community Center, northeast of Atlantic City, where 200 spent the night during the storm’s peak on Monday night.

And a video clip of President Barack Obama and Governor Chris Christie’s tour of New Jersey to co-create fast, effective restoration:

Finally, before I add my own Hoboken-focused prayer request for cosmic healing and restoration, I’d like to share an interesting discussion about the history and geography of New York that Rachel Maddow led yesterday evening on her show:

I’ll finish up this post later today when I insert the audio I recorded early this morning into video format.

Until then….

Holding your hands and sending you warm Angel Hugzzz,

PS It’s now 1:02am, Friday morning. The video is now rendering but it’s taking forever. I’ll leave it going while I’m sleeping and add it to a follow-up post later today. This post has gotten wayyyy too long. πŸ˜‰

Sleep well! And I’ll add the link for the follow-up post with the vid once it’s published.

PPS 1:39am:

Ok, did the follow-up post and moved an item over to start it off. Note the 11% video rendering pic! πŸ˜‰
